講義目的 Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to write academic essays of various rhetorical styles incorporating quoted material and statistics correctly. Students should be able to not only express their ideas and opinions in writing but also find appropriate sources to support their opinions. Finally, students will have further developed their proficiency at expressing themselves on blogs and worked on teacher-determined problematic grammatical structures by the end of this course.
各回ごとの授業内容 Course Contents of Each Session
This course meets once per week, but the teacher will integrate instruction in this course with Reading IIA and Communication IIA. This course will help students increase their familiarity with the style, form and structure of written English, become more proficient at writing academic essays, understand the basic methods of academic research, and improve their overall ability to express themselves in written form.
授業方法 Methods of Instruction
This will be a workshop-based class in which the teacher will give clear instruction and guidance in English while students use computers on a daily basis to analyze and compose various writing pieces. This course approaches writing as a process, and students will write and revise their pieces throughout the term.

成績評価方法・基準 Methods and Criteria of Evaluation
Students must earn a grade of at least 60% to pass this course. This grade will be based on 2 major writing assignments, in-class tests, blog assignments, attendance, and other instructor-determined coursework.

There are no prerequisites for this course. However, in general, students are expected to have mastered the material taught in Writing IA and IB before taking this course. Some of the course topics and materials will connect to topics and materials in Reading IIA and Communication IIA.
